Business Development Committee
The Business Development Committee plans and promotes the ABC Merit Shot philosophy and builds chapter members visibility and business opportunities chapter-wide through local, state, and national contacts.
By-Laws Ad-Hoc Committee
The By-Laws Ad-Hoc Committee Reviews and updates the Chapter By-Laws to ensure that they are in compliance with State and Federal laws as well as the ABC national rules and regulations. The By-Laws Ad-Hoc Committee will review and update the By-Lays as needed using current trends.
Chapter Operating Policy and Procedures Ad-Hoc Committee
The Chapter Operating Policy and Procedures Ad-Hoc Committee reviews and updates the Chapter Operating Policy and Procedures to ensure they are in compliance with State and Federal laws as well as ABC national rules and regulations. The Chapter Operating Policy and Procedures Ad-Hoc Committee will review and update the Chapter Operating Policy and Procedures as needed using current trends.
Dues Review Committee
The Dues Review Committee reviews the Chapter Dues in comparison to other Chapters our size within Region III (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma). The Committee reviews the current Consumer Index, the local economy, and Chapter Membership to ensure that the members are classified correctly. The Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for Category changes, Chapter dues increases, and member classification changes. The Committee will also report to the Board of Directors on the impact of these changes to the Chapter Membership.
Harbor Playhouse Ad-Hoc Committee
The Harbor Playhouse will assist the Harbor Playhouse with their capital improvements.
Legislative, Legal Rights, and Strategy Committee
The Legislative portion of the Legislative, Legal Rights, and Strategy Committee plans and recommends proactive policies and programs, actively participates in the legislative process, monitors state and local legislative activities, and activates Chapter response mechanisms. The Legal Rights and Strategy portion of the Committee monitors labor relations, cases and union activities, observes and reports trends, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Committee also plans and executes timely informational sessions for members. The Chairman and key members of the Legislative, Legal Rights, and Strategy Committee attend the ABC National Legislative Conference and cooperation with ABC National programs and activities.
Management Education Committee
The Management Education Committee plans and conducts management education and supervisory training programs to meet members’ needs outside of those offered by the Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee recruits new members, tracks their participation, and develops an annual retention plan. The Committee determines ways in which new members can be recruited and participates in the recruitment process. The Committee researches potential members Chapter-wide. The Committee organizes and executes the Chapter’s annual membership retention program and campaign with a goal of full retention. The Committee determines how programs and services can be promoted to maintain the highest membership rate possible.
Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee selects and presents a slate of Chapter officers and Board of Directors for elections for the upcoming year, only selecting the strongest possible leaders with a demonstrated commitment to the Chapter. The Committee determines if each individual is capable of performing the role and ascertain of the individual’s willingness to take on responsibilities. The Committee addresses the state of the Chapter’s volunteer involvement and the relative pool of active members capable of moving into leadership roles. The Committee identifies potential leaders from the membership ranks.
Past Presidents Council
The Past Presidents Council consists of past Chairmen of the Board of Directors who are still Chapter members in good standing. The Council is used as a resource for the Chapter President. The Council has an advisory capacity and is encouraged to offer recommendations and guidance to the President as requested. The Past Presidents Council is also used as a resource for other committees.
Plans Room Committee
The Plans Room Committee evaluates and assess the services and usage of the plans room and its capabilities. The Plans Room provides members with information of bid opportunities and a tracking system for projects throughout the Chapter’s area.
Political Action Committee
The Political Action Committee analyzes the political environment in the Chapter’s area and recommends political candidates for endorsement and/or financial support. The Committee obtains contributions from Chapter members, provides information to members on relevant political matters, and publishes voter guides during election cycles. The Chairman and key members of the Political Action Committee attend the ABC National Legislative Conference and cooperation with ABC National programs and activities. The Committee manages funds in strict adherence to all PAC rules and regulations.
Programs Committee
The Programs Committee develops, promotes, and coordinates quality membership programs and special events such as monthly general membership meetings and mixers.
Safety Committee
The Safety Committee develops and promotes quality safety programs chapter-wide outside of those offered by the Contractors Safety Council of the Coastal Bend. The Committee keeps member informed of the trends and changes in the administration of federal and state safety laws and regulations. The Safety Committee works in conjunction with the CLAS Steering Committee which is committed to working as partners to achieve construction workplace safety through shared strategies and objectives. The CLAS Steering Committee is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of an OSHA, ABC, and local contractors’ partnership.
Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee discusses scholarship possibilities, reviews scholarship applications, and attempts to distribute scholarships to students with an emphasis in the construction industry and attend a school in the Coastal Bend.
Value Proposition Ad-Hoc Committee
The Value Proposition Ad-Hoc Committee will strive to improve the perceived value of ABC membership and create passion in membership, therefore improving recruitment, retention, and education of ABC members.
